The Mattson2 | San Diego Music Photographer

I hope you had a great weekend! It was GOR.GE.OUS. here in San Diego. Hope you caught some live music – the Adams Avenue Street Fair was in full swing! The Mattson2 were there performing great, fun, jazz tunes.  I caught the duo a few weeks ago at the San Diego Music Thing.  Tenor saxophonist Ian Tordella joined them on stage.  I love their energy!  They are young, crazy talented, super easy-going guys, and totally know their stuff.  You can hear it from the start – as Jonathan lays down the rhythm and Jared comes in with his distinct sound on the guitar.  I love their original work, but a personal highlight of the night was their cover of The Smiths’ song “Ask Me.”  You can check them out by going to their website or “liking” them on Facebook.

Here are a few pics from their performance at The San Diego Music Thing from a couple of weeks ago.  These were shot at The Office.

And I’ll finish off with two color shots.  And by color, I mean COLOR.  For about 98.7% of their performance, the Mattson’s were bathed in green, blue, red, or purple light.  Hence, the large post of BW photos.  Still, I love these last 2 shots.
