Meet My Photog Friends on Monday #10 | San Diego Family Photographer

Today I have the extreme pleasure to share the work of yet another wonderful photographer.  Kara Layfield from Kara Layfield Photography.  I am so lucky to know her as a fellow photographer and as a sweet friend.  Kara is an incredibly talented photographer who always wows me with her fresh style.  The clarity and color in her portraits is phenomenal.  But most importantly, in my opinion, her images always capture her subjects perfectly.  I am ONE DAY going to gather up my lovely little family and visit my dear friend so she can photograph us!

Meet gorgeous Kara!

You will absolutely, absolutely love spending lots of time on her blogsite – total eye-candy.  Go, go now.:

This is one of her favorite images.  Gorgeous portrait, right?

About the image…
Why do you love this image?
To me, this image digs down deep into the soul of a young girl and shows her inner beauty. I wanted to show this teen just how beautiful she was both inside and out and to me this captured her perfectly.

What were your settings with this image?
f/2.0, SS 1/1250, ISO 200 on my 5DII using my 85mm f/1.8 lens.

About Photography…
What is in your camera bag?
Canon 5D Mark II, 50 1.2 L, 85 1.8

What is your favorite lens?
Most definately the 85 1.8. I’d LOVE to have the 85 1.2L, but for now this does the job and gives me such beautiful creamy bokeh.
What fabulous new product are you excited to tell your clients about? Super cool metal prints. These are ideal for seniors or a very hip family session. They definately will make a statement in any home.

What is the one book that should be on every photographer’s shelf?
Bryan Peterson’s ‘Understanding Exposure’. This is a must for anyone starting out in photography.

Who’s blog do you follow and why?
The very talented Tara Whitney & the super creative Shannon Sewell.

About your life . . .
What is your favorite charity?
St. Judes Research Hospital. Its mission is to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. I can’t imagine what the parents of children with cancer must go through, but St. Judes is there every step of the way.

What 3 words describe you? Or describe your style?
Real, Fun & Relaxed

Did you go to college?
What was your major? I majored in Communications.

What are you most proud of?
My kids! They bring me such joy!

And next week, come back to see another great feature on another person dear to my heart, Holly from Holly Olson Photography.  See you then!
