San Diego Beach Photographer | The D-V Family

I know some kiddies have are back in school. I know some families have ended their summer travelling. I’m still hanging on to summer.

It was so, so, so great to meet G., M., K. and A. for a beach session. Just one for now.

Simple and Unexpected | San Diego Family Photographer

The images I love best, the photos I find the most engrossing are those capture an unexpected moment, an in-between moment.  The images that make my heart leap with joy are those that capture the subject in a real interaction, a simple moment.  Photojournalism, especially when displayed in quiet B&W is my first, true photographic love.

San Diego Family Photographer | The B. Family

Okay, can I just say that when this family contacted me about family pictures and they told me they wanted to showcase their kids and the sports that they played I flipped out! I mean, how cool is that? I really love photographing families in a way that totally makes the session meaningful to them.

Let me tell you about their kiddos.  Little brother M. is one very cool dude!  He was a little shy at first, but once I pointed out how cool he was working his b-ball magic, he easily broke out into big grins.  Adorable, isn’t he?  Younger sister C.J. suggested I read The Hunger Games.  I’m just about to finish the trilogy, but when I photographed the family a couple of months ago (I know, I know. . .  I’ve been realllly bad about blogging this year), the only thing I knew about The Hunger Games was that Lenny Kravitz was slated to play a role.  I said to C.J. and big sis S., “Ohhhh, yeah!  I think Lenny Kravitz is going to be in the movie?  Do you guys know Lenny Kravitz’ music?”  Well, they didn’t know his music, but their parents did!  Yeah!  As a matter of fact, I’m gonna cue up Lenny’s greatest hits as I finish up this blog post.  Last but not least, big sister S. – what an incredible young lady.  We were chatting about school and extracurricular activities while I took her portraits.  I could immediately tell that this young lady was mature beyond her years, a really sweet soul.

Dear, dear B. family.  I loved meeting you for your family portraits.  Ya’ll want to come to a Lenny Kravitz concert with me?  Yeah?

San Diego Child Photographer | Just Mine

I rarely take my kids out for photo shoots.  And when I do, the images sit in my computer’s hardrive.  For months. Untouched.  GAH!!!  So, when I happen on a picture like this one, a “forgotten” picture, my heart sings.  This one is from last year.  My plucky, little ducky.

San Diego Beach Photographer | R. and K. and Mom

Southern California definitely has some of the best beaches on Earth. I’ve been to my fair share of beaches, Florida, Mexico, South Africa, France, Italy, England, Hawaii. And I stand by my statement. Really. Southern California has some of the best beaches on Earth! If you haven’t had a chance to come out and visit, I highly suggest you do so. I think doing the Highway 1 drive from Southern California all the way up into Northern California is worthy of making it on your bucket list. Trust me. You’re gonna love it here.

I met my good friend Clarice on a Southern California beach a few months ago, She was helping me scout out a new location. This was such a quickie little session, 25 minutes, boom, boom, done. Both big sis R. and little brother K. stole my heart. We had dinner plans after the session, but I had to rush back home and cancelled out on them. BOO! Clarice, can I come up and visit you again soon? I’m buying dinner! Love you guys!
