David Borgo | San Diego Portrait Photographer

Can I share with you a few images of one of my fave people on Earth?  Last week, I shared one pic of my hubby David Borgo, who is a not only an amazing hubs and dad, but also a super awesome, ridiculously talented jazz musician and professor at UCSD.  He is the talent in the family, for sure!

You can check out any of his seven CDs on Amazon, iTunes, or CDBaby.  The music ranges from straight-ahead to improv.  There is something there for everyone who likes jazz!  My fave song of his?  ”Oddity” from his second CD Massanetta Springs.  That song rocks!!!!  And it is awesome live!!

We spent a quiet Saturday evening on UCSD’s campus to capture a few images:

It’s Only Rock and Roll #3 | San Diego Portrait Photographer

Hello everyone!  Happy Labor Day!  I hope you are enjoying your day off and listening to great music as well.

I have also been listening to great music lately, the new Foo Fighters album, the first and second Bon Iver, and I’ve been listening to THIS man (below).  Glen Hansard of the amazing Irish band The Frames.  If you have not heard of The Frames, please, please, please, please tell me that you are going to go check them out.  You can start with their debut album released in 1999 titled Dance The Devil or pick up another one of my faves, Burn The Maps from 2005.  You must also watch the 2006 movie Once which features Oscar winning music and stellar, heart-felt performances by Glen and Marketa Irglova.

It’s Only Rock and Roll #2 | San Diego Photographer

A couple of weeks ago, I started a project which will feature some of my favorite portraits of musicians to showcase photography at its finest.  I’d like to feature the photographers who took the images to highlight their work and artistry.

Today, I bring to you 1/4th of The Beatles.  I love the Beatles.  Love them.  Love them.  Love them.  I have my parents to thank for that.  They introduced me to the group’s music when I was very young.  Yes, my parents also introduced me to ABBA, Linda Ronstandt, and Kenny Rogers, but for now we are going to stick with The Beatles story.

It’s Only Rock and Roll #1 | San Diego Photographer

I’m very, very, very, very excited to share with you a new kind of blog post with you today.  Did I say I was VERY excited?  Good, just checking . . .

You see, I love music.  Love it.  Can’t live without it.  Know a lot about it.  Dreamed of writing for Rolling Stone.  Dreamed of being a concert photographer.  Dreamed of working with musicians and taking their portraits.  Married a musician.  I.  JUST.  LOVE. MUSIC.

And so today, I’d like to share with you a new project.  I’d like to feature a favorite portrait of a musician, an artist.  I do this with the hope that you get to know me a little better, you may even share my taste in music!  Perhaps, you will even check out the work of the musicians I am featuring and find one or two or more that you like!  Perhaps you’ll want to take me to a concert because you’ll think I’m super cool and will want to hang out with me.  Haha!  Just kidding,  . . . sort of . . .

More importantly, I’d like to do this to highlight the incredible work of amazing photographers I admire and that I wish I could *BE* for a day or two!

I’m starting off with this image by Danny Clinch, who has photographed tons and tons of great artists – Elvis Costello, Radiohead, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, and this man, Eddie Vedder.  His new album, Ukulele songs, was released last week.
