Do I love music? Yes, yes I do. A couple of months ago, I started a personal project here on my blog – a project that would showcase the work of talented portrait photographers who specialize in portraits of musicians and documenting performances. Can I tell you a secret? A little part of me would LOVVVVVVVEEEEE to photograph muscians, not just for traditional portraiture, but to capture their day-to-day while they are on the road, giving a concert, or just in their home.
So, when I got back to New Jersey after my adventures with Celina and Carolina in Manhattan on day 3 of my NY trip, I got to hang out with my good pal Alan Ferber, who is an amazing NYC jazz musician, himself! Alan wanted to check out the summer concert event MapleWoodstock, grab a bite to eat, and buy his beautiful wife Jody (who is an amazing cellist, currently on tour with one of my fave artists, Esperanza Spalding) a nice present. So, we headed out to Maplewood, NJ and The Smithereens were playing! Remember them? The band behind great songs like “Blood and Roses,” “A Girl Like You,” and “Behind The Wall of Sleep.” What a treat it was to catch them live! And, thank goodness I was toting my camera because I got these images during their first son:

How cool is that???

Hiya! Today is day 3 in my series of my trip to NY! If you caught my other blog posts, you got to meet my other lovely friends and find out about the fun things I did with them.
Today, I bring you 2 other lovelies! Celina, whom I’ve known since my college days, and Carolina who is a talented New York City Photographer and the owner of Carolina Nicasio Photography.
First ,let me start off with an image that I took before my “dates” with my friends.

So, on my day 3, I met Celina for breakfast. Have you noticed a trend? I eat a lot. Celina has travelled the world for work and fun the last few years. And so, we had great discussions about not only travel, but also careers, relationships, friendships, family, politics, and social issues. Her experience, her perspective, her wisdom brought such depth to the time we spent together. Gosh. I know I’m gushing – I just super enjoyed my morning with Celina. Here she is, ready for our walk across the Brooklyn Bridge (to be honest, in the interest of time, we didn’t make it all the way across).

And here is one view from roughly the mid-point on the bridge.

And you know what this is? Yep. It is the view from the rooftop of her apartment building. WOW! WOW! WOW!

I was a little weepy to leave Celina behind, but thennnnnnnnn Carolina picked me up to go to LUNCH! I had a FAB. U. LOUS. time talking with Carolina about everything under the sun. She is such, such, such an incredible person. Not only is she super gorgeous on the outside (see below! see below!), but she is also super gorgeous on the inside. Gah! Carolina drove us to a great Mexican restaurant in Manhattan (Carolina, if you read this – what is the name of THAT place???) and I ate chips and guacamole. Yep, just good ol’ chips and guac. I just really needed to eat avocados. I think if I could only choose one thing to eat for the rest of my life, I would choose the avocado. Yum!
Love ya, girlie!

So, my day 3 is not over quiet yet, come back next week for a peek as to how I spent my summer evening in Maplewood, New Jersey!
